Bokashi is the Japanese word for 'fermented organic matter'. The bran is used to ferment food waste enabling you to recycle all your food waste including meat, fish and dairy products. 

Bokashi Active Bran is a dry mixture of bran and molasses that has been inoculated with a pro-biotic mixture of micro-organisms sometimes called EMs or Effective micro-organisms. It is a mixed microbial culture of selected species of micro-organisms such as lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, photosynthetic bacteria and actinomycetes.
